Pinn Dropp - Perfectly Flawed

 

Pinn Dropp started out as a concept created by guitarist and composer Piotr Sym who wanted to find a musical outlet to express his love of progressive music. After an intensive period of writing, Piotr teamed up with drummer and producer Dariusz Piwowarczyk in 2015 to create the definitive Pinn Dropp sound. The duo was joined by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Mateusz Jagieo and in December 2017 the band released their well-received debut EP Re: verse, Re: treat, Re: unite. At the beginning of 2018, full time bass player Pawe Woliski joined the band and the augmented line-up began recording their first full length album Perfectly Flawed

 

It would be lazy to simply categorise Pinn Dropp in the heavy prog camp based on the recent ascendency of other Polish bands like Riverside and it wouldn’t really be correct. Perfectly Flawed better represents a modern take on melodic prog; it’s nicely produced and beautifully arranged with a good balance of instrumentation (including restrained, acoustic moments) and not only is it strong on melodies, it contains a 21 minute epic, the title track Perfectly Flawed with very prog stop/starts, shifting tempos and thematic changes. It’s a fine album, really well crafted with seven excellent tracks (all three songs from 2017’s Re: verse, Re: treat, Re: unite, remixed and partially re-recorded are included) running to seventy minutes of music

 

Perfectly Flawed was released in digital format at the end of 2018 and the CD came out in mid-January; the download contains the bonus track Human Corporate Machine which was previously released as a single in September 2018. Already critically acclaimed, the debut from the Warsaw-based prog rockers is available via Bandcamp and other streaming apps plus through the band’s label Music and More Records online shop
