ProgBlog
DISCovery
The original aim of the blog was to promote discussion about all and any facet of progressive rock but from time to time, bands and musicians contact ProgBlog with new prog-related material that they want to expose to a wider audience; ProgBlog's album of 2017 An Invitation by Amber Foil was one such approach.
The range of styles ProgBlog has been exposed to through this route has helped to expand and challenge my listening habits but time constraints have meant that not all submissions have received the attention that they deserve.
The DISCovery section has been introduced to better serve the requirements of musicians who contact ProgBlog with the aim of increasing the audience for their music; without music there can be no discussion of music.

Orquesta Metafisica - Hipnotizados
Orquesta Metafisica plays avant-garde music inspired by the mystery of existence!
Formed in Buenos Aires in 2009, the music of Orquesta Metafísica reflects the unusual and versatile background of composer/keyboard player Sebastian Volco, who studied classical and popular music, composed for contemporary ballet and art exhibitions, pursued a career in Argentinian rock and subsequently in the field of contemporary tango
The band's current sound was honed with arrival of Sebastian Rosenfeldt, an expert in ambient music and electronic tango, as the band's producer and bass player; a blend of profoundness and mysticism with the energy of rock and jazz. The result is highly original instrumental music, rich in influences, with an atypical choice of instruments: piano, bass, drums and saxophone married with classical strings, bass cello, stick and world music instruments, including the mythical bandoneon of Argentinian tango and the traditional Chinese yangqin, all combined with electronics
They quickly became a cult band in Buenos Aires, garnering a following from those interested in strong musical and theatrical themes. The band would play at La Catedral, a world-renowned alternative milonga (a venue for dancing the tango) every week for experimental music shows with participation of filmmakers, acrobats, actors and philosophers
After a tour in United States, the band moved to Europe in 2013 where it continued working on its bold multidisciplinary projects, including the new album Hipnotizados recorded in Paris, Buenos Aires and Barcelona and mastered in the UK
This new opus comes as a follow-up to 7 Movimientos, an instrumental album in which the band narrated a story about liberation of the spirit. In Hipnotizados, they examine the topic of public opinion manipulation via the mass media, suggesting that people in all societies succumb to the same discourse which aims at generating fear, obedience and mistrust. Another instrumental album, it incorporates medleys of real political discourse pronounced by public personalities and with recordings of Tweets written in reaction to those discourses, exalting patriotism, security, religion, consumerism, new technologies or xenophobia
Hipnotizados is a brilliantly played, thought-provoking piece of music for our times
